May 24-May 27 (In Pictures)

Posted by Kevin on May 28th, 2007

Flew up on thursday, within minutes of landing, I was eating the best Dimsum I’ve ever had, and on my way out, I spotted these guys sitting in the tanks.

To give you an idea how big these guys are, they’re practically the size of a terrier. Maybe I’ll eat one next time.

I met the nicest host at the restaurant, the dessert and beer was on the house that night. Good times!

Next day I found myself sucking down raw oysters for breakfast…

Makoto and Amy got married on Saturday. (Congrats, yo!)

Seriously, between the dog-sized lobsters, Makochan’s wedding, and the ridiculous wedding banquet, this was the greatest weekend ever.
CHEERS!!!

Terrible, just terrible.

Sleepless in Century City

Posted by Kevin on April 13th, 2007

3 am.

This is the second night in two weeks that I can’t sleep. I’m not sick, I AM tired, but there’s so much on my mind that I just can’t sleep. Job, side job, relationships, housing, creative projects… it all comes into my head, unwelcomed, uninvited, at 3 am.

I am Jack’s unrealized potential.

50meals.com

Posted by Kevin on February 10th, 2007

Launched a new site tonight called 50meals.com
As you might have noticed, I’ve shifted to being a food blogger in recent months, and 50meals.com is the new website dedicated to that. KevCheng.com may continue to host some food blog content, but the bigger and better food blog entries will be on 50meals.com.

So give it a go, it’s all under construction and I’m only starting to put entries up. Let me know what you think.

Shinsengumi Shabu Shabu Hakata Horumon

Posted by Kevin on February 3rd, 2007

Yeah, long name. Shinsengumi is like the umbrella company or something and they have a whole bunch of restaurants here in Gardena. There’s a Yakitori place, a ramen place, and now, I’m checking out their shabu shabu and grill.

Sushi Gen - Little Tokyo

Posted by Kevin on January 26th, 2007

Mom flew in tonight, and for her belated birthday dinner, we went to Sushi Gen.

DSCF0863.jpg
Nice and charming outside.

DSCF0889.jpg
Insanely delicious inside. This is the yellowtail collar.

DSCF0879.jpg
Dad doesn’t like all the raw stuff, so he had the salmon dinner

DSCF0868.jpg
Mom and I both had the Deluxe Sashimi Combo.
You can easily see that I got the hard core deviant food bent from mom.
